Steven was born August 30, 1949 in Lees Summit, MO. He proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War era. In that time, he was stationed out of Okinawa from 1970-1972.
Upon his discharge from the Army, Steven embarked on a career with the BNSF Railroad. His tenure spanned 35 years until his retirement.
Steven is survived by his daughter, Nicolle; his step-daughter, Misty Fritz (Bobby); Granddaughter, Brandy Famuliner; and Misty’s daughter, Haley Fritz (Jacob Guilstorf); nieces, Lynn Rodgers (Scot Drath), Suzie Ball (Brooks) and sister-in-law, Dana Famuliner.
Steven was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Bebout; father, Charles Famuliner; his brothers, Gary and Charles Famuliner and his son, Michael Lee Famuliner.
Steven had a huge love for sprint car racing. He shared this love of racing with his close friends, Wes Dowdy, Sam Riggs, and Ronny Taylor. Family and close friends were planning to take Steven while in Hospice, one last racing hurrah May 5.
Steven had an innate skill of being able to create or fix anything with his hands. He seemed to be able to magically make things out of nothing. He was amazing to watch. Steven had a love for wild animals as well. He once had a spider monkey as a pet. He decided to sell the monkey however, when the pet monkey tore up the fireworks stand. In another wildlife adventure, Steven once brought home a baby raccoon. He built a cage for the raccoon, but that hardly contained the raccoon’s mischief. After a few shenanigans, his wife exiled the pet raccoon.
Steven mellowed later in life and was a very kind, loving man. He lived a productive life to be proud of and will be deeply missed; forever and always. RIP Dad
