Steve was born on September 23, 1943, in Amarillo, Texas. He was the only
child of Mardell and Ralph Orr.
Growing up, he lived in the states of Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska,
Michigan and Wisconsin. It was in college in Wisconsin where Steve met and
married his best friend, dancing partner and intellectual match: Dana.
They settled in Leawood, Kansas, where Steve pursued his career as an
engineering recruiter and they raised their three beautiful daughters:
Kelly, Stephany and Tracy.
As a family, they camped, canoed, hiked, grilled and best of all: skied!
Steve watched in awe as his daughters grew into beautiful women, married
wonderful men, and blessed them with six incredible grandchildren and a
beautiful step-granddaughter. Becoming “Papa” was Steve’s greatest joy and
achievement.
Steve loved you all: his family, his friends, his Church of the
Resurrection stretcher bearers, his Seekers support, the Chocolatiers, Dr
Singh and the Research staff, his Sunshine caregivers, and the Kansas City
Hospice House. You have blessed him richly; because of you, he lived a full
life.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City Hospice House,
12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64145.
