Stephen F. Kirkpatrick, 69, Overland Park, Kansas passed away peacefully among family and friends on October 7, 2017. Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 16, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents James W. and Annabel Fisher Kirkpatrick.
Steve was born in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School before enlisting in the Army. Steve spent two tours in Vietnam with the 5th Special Forces Group and fought bravely in many battles. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his service and attained the rank of Sergeant before retiring. Steve enjoyed music and television and being around family and friends. He always had a smile on his face.
Steve leaves behind a sister, Susan Kirkpatrick, a niece, Rebecca Kirkpatrick, 11 cousins, one aunt, many friends and a caregiver.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Steve’s favorite charities Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675 and the Fraternal Order of Police.
