Sheila Baker Bolte, 89, of Kansas City, Missouri, peacefully passed away on February 23 at her home. She was dearly loved by her husband of 68 years, Denslow Bolte, her two children, two grandchildren, and extended family members.
Sheila was a graduate of Columbia College, University of Missouri, and The George Washington University with a BA degree in journalism. She worked as the assistant editor of The Independent Magazine for 14 years, was a member of Mission Hills Country Club, The D.A.R., and served on the boards of a number of philanthropic organizations.
Sheila and Denny were world travelers, visiting all 50 states, and 50 foreign countries including Mexico, Europe, China, and Kazakhstan. They loved sharing these adventures and Sheila always graced the people she met along the way.
Her beloved son, Carrick, passed away in 2003. She is survived by her husband, Denslow E. Bolte, brother George E. Baker and wife Marabel, brother-in-law Carl E. Bolte and wife Jane, daughter Jean Bolte and husband Carl Frederick, two grandchildren and 3 nieces.
A Celebration of Life for Denny and his late wife Sheila will be held from 4:00 to 6:00pm, Tuesday, October 4th at the Carriage Club, 5301 State Line Road, KCMO.
