Sharon Lee Hennessey-Balmer, 63, of Pleasant Hill, MO passed away on November 30, 2022. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:30 PM Monday, December 5 at Newcomer’s Floral Hills Chapel, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Kansas City Hospice. Funeral/Burial services will be private.
Sharon was born November 1, 1959 in Kansas City, MO to Betty and Dennis Hennessey. Sharon grew up in Independence, MO and graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1978, where she was active in sports, Girl's M Club and Co-Captain of the Drill Team. She worked in banking and finance and excelled throughout her career. Sharon was married for over 32 years to the love of her life, Barry Balmer. They enjoyed cruising, dancing, and spending time with family and friends together.
Sharon was a member of Elks Lodge 2509 in Blue Springs for many years. She was influential in Elk’s leadership and became the first female Exalted Ruler from 2016-2017 with the lodge. She tirelessly worked and supported charities such as the American Cancer Society, American Legion Kid's fishing outings and she started the "Antler" program for children of lodge members.
She is survived by her husband Barry Balmer of Pleasant Hill, MO, brother Ron and wife Diana Hennessey of Fort Worth, TX, brother Gary Hennessey of Independence, MO, stepchildren Sherrie Balmer of Lee's Summit, MO, Tim and wife Julie Balmer of Olathe, KS, grandchildren Dayne, Graceyn and Trey Balmer, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Betty and Dennis Hennessey.
