Ruth was born Dec. 19, 1925 in Denver, CO, but lived most of her life in the greater Kansas City area.
Her first employment was at a Richmond, CA shipyards during World War II. After moving to Kansas City, she worked briefly as a dance instructor for Arthur Murray Studios, and later worked in sales at Macy's. Ruth eventually went to work at the regional offices of the Social Security Administration, retiring in 1985 after 25 years of service. She then worked 15 more years as a travel agent at Raytown Travel.
She was an intrepid traveler, having visited all 50 states and six of the seven continents.
She was a member of the In-Ka-Ra chapter of the ABWA, the Kansas City chapter of SSA Alumni and the former Birchwood Baptist Church of Independence.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Bollinger of Bates City, MO; one son, Brian Hutton of Middletown, NY; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Bill Hutton.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at Floral Hills Funeral Home, Kansas City. Services will be at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed immediately by burial.
