Ruth I. Gavin, 97, of Kearney, MO peacefully passed away on April 10, 2018. Services will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to Crossroads Hospice, 14310 E. 42nd St, South, Independence, MO 64055.
Ruth was born October 18, 1920 to Edward and Lillian Wittlief. She enlisted in the United States Army on January 15, 1943. She was awarded the Bronze Star for her service during World War II, in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. She was honorably discharged as a sergeant on September 15, 1945. Ruth loved the great outdoors, traveling and her family.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Gavin, Sr. and her children, Yvette Gavin, Thomas Gavin, Jr., and Edward Gavin. She is survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
