Bob, the son of Charles Robert and Shirley Lee Harber, was born on December 3, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri. Bob had one brother, Thomas Warren, born on June 12, 1937.
When in his youth, Bob lived in the Waldo neighborhood and attended Hale Cook Elementary School and then Southwest High School. His family later moved to Prairie Village, Kansas, and Bob graduated from Shawnee Mission High School. Bob achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.
Bob attended the University of Kansas and was a member of the Acacia Fraternity.
Bob married Joyce Ann Fehrenbach-Lientz in 1956. Bob and Joyce remained married until his death, 62 years later. Bob and Joyce were blessed with two children, Sheryl Lynn, born in 1957; and Robert Kenneth, born in 1958.
Bob was employed by Trans World Airlines (TWA) and worked in the accounting department early in his career. He later became an entrepreneur and established and owned an industrial heating business for 20 years. Later in his career Bob worked as a sales representative for industrial products. Bob remained in the workforce until age 70.
One of Bob’s passions was aviation; he owned and flew his own private plane. Bob earned his pilot’s single and multi-engine ratings and his instrument rating.
Bob was a member of the Village Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder and usher for 40 years. He was a co-founder of the church’s memorial guild.
Bob and Joyce enjoyed many restful weekends and holidays living in their RV beside Lake Pomme de Terre in Missouri.
Bob is survived by his loving spouse Joyce and his dog Curley, of Kingsville, Missouri; his children Sheryl and her spouse Ronald Kuglin of Holton, Kansas; Robert Harber and his spouse Cheryl of Shawnee, Kansas; and her sister-in-law Glenda Harber.
Bob is also survived by his grandchildren: Scott Harber of Cedar Vale, Kansas; Andrew Kuglin and his spouse Tiffany of Holton, Kansas; Michelle Harber of St. Charles, Missouri; Samuel Kuglin and his spouse Michelle of Holton, Kansas; and Benjamin Kuglin and his spouse Cayla of Holton, Kansas.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Charles, his mother Shirley, and his brother Thomas.
Services will be held on Thursday August 30, 2018 at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Road, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208 at 11:30 AM followed by a reception at the church.
The family requests donations to the Village Presbyterian Church or to one's preferred charity in lieu of flowers.
