Robert was born in Kansas City, KS on January 21, 1929 and passed away and into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, May 22, 2022.
He grew up in Mission Highlands subdivision, Fairway, KS. He lived on almost every street in subdivision as his family grew. He graduated from Shawnee Mission high school (North) in 1947. He married his wife of 44 years, Dolores Reffitt in Dec. 1950. After only one month of marriage, Robert was drafted into the Army and was shipped out to Korea for two years. After coming home from the service, Robert and Dolores started a family and had two daughters, Deborah D. Fastner (Randy) and Cynthia M. Hauser (Bill). They had five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Robert worked two jobs and achieved two years of college. Eventually he worked for Armco Steel Company as Senior Transportation Representative for 27 years. Robert later retired to take care of his wife Delores with cancer.
After the passing of his wife Dolores, he later remarried in 1995 to Jo Ann Reffitt-Foster and they were married for 26 years. This family then blended together with Jo Ann’s kids Pamela Tague (Pat), Fred Reffitt (Debbie), Mark Reffitt (Diane), and Heidi Sieger (Pup) and also many grandkids and nieces and nephews. He was grandpa and Uncle Bob to many nieces and nephews and many greats.
Robert is survived by his second wife Jo Ann Foster, his daughters with Dolores; Deborah Fastner and Cynthia Hauser (Bill), five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and his brother William Foster. Robert was proceeded in death by his first wife Dolores Foster, parents Hoyt and Alice Foster, brother Harry Foster, sister Willa Mc Alhaney, sisters-in-law Marty Foster and Darylene Foster, son-in-law Randy Fastner, and Jo Ann’s son Mark Reffitt.
Robert and Jo Ann moved into their new home in Greenwood, MO in 2004 and led a full busy life. They joined First Baptist Church of Greenwood where they made many wonderful lifelong friends. He loved spending time with his wife, daughters, grandkids, along with all his family and friends. He enjoyed working in the yard and taking care of his flower gardens, studying the Bible with Jo Ann, many trips to McDonald’s for coffee with his Sunday school buddies and breakfast with his brother-n-laws. He also loved Jo Ann’s delicious cookies and cakes!
He was a kind, gentle, quiet, reserved man who touched many people and will be deeply missed.
A visitation for Robert will be held Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Fellowship Church of Greenwood, 1601 W. Main St., Greenwood, MO followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. The committal service will be after the funeral at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens, 23215 W. 75th St., Shawnee, KS.
