Robert "Bob" Cleary

Robert “Bob” Cleary, 87, of Overland Park, KS died on Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Visitation will be held at 5:30 pm on Monday, May 18, 2015 at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Rd, Kansas City, MO 64145, followed by a Rosary at 6:30 pm. A Memorial Mass will be at a later date at St. Louis Church, 11341 Morton Road, Atchison, KS. Interment to follow at St Louis Cemetery, Atchison, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Villa St. Francis, 16600 W 126th St, Olathe, KS 66062 or St. Louis Church.

Bob was born February 23, 1928 in St. Joseph, Missouri to John R. and Mary S. (Perry) Cleary. He joined the United States Army and served our country during WWII. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School, St Joseph, MO and received his BSBA in Arts from UMKC, Kansas City, MO.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sylvanie Cleary, siblings, Mary Frances Roberts, Jack Cleary and Fr Donald Cleary. Survivors include his sisters, Dorothy Gallagher and Genevieve Cleary; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He retired from Bendix Corporation where he was a Buyer.

Bob was a Renaissance Man who travelled extensively, loved the theater, opera (especially Pavarotti), movies, art and the finer things of life. If you knew him you will know he also loved a bargain! He was the great, great grandson of Joseph Robidoux, founder of St. Joseph, MO.
