Rita M. Puga, 82, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Saturday, May 28, 2022. Visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine, 901 Avenida Cesar Chavez Ave, Kansas City, Missouri 64108. Burial will be in Forest Hill & Calvary Cemetery, 6901 Troost Ave, Kansas City, Missouri 64131.
Rita was born in 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri and remained a proud Kansas Citian all her life. Rita was a member of the Union Cultural Mexicana and a participant of the Guadalupe Centers Senior program. She was a regular at community events always showing support, often by volunteering her time. She worked in the medical industrustry as a nurse assistant and retired from St. Luke’s Hospital.
Ms. Puga was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Benito & Maria Luz Fuentes; brothers, Andrew, Joseph, and Raymond Fuentes; and sisters, Manuela “Nellie” (Fuentes) Lozano and Delores “Dee” Olvera. She is survived by her children, Sam (Josefina) Puga, Teresa (Enrique) Murguia, Annette Puga-Estrada, and Elena Puga; her siblings, Benito Fuentes, Jesse (Gloria) Fuentes, Tony (Mary Lou) Fuentes, and Vicente Fuentes; her grandchildren, Andrea & Diana Puga, Marcos (Carmen), Miguel (Gabriella), & Marcella Murguia, Amanda & Emilio (Zenaida) Estrada, and Ray Jackson, Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Michelle, Marcos, Mia, Milano, Melo, Santiago and Armando; and many nieces and nephews.
Rita was a beautiful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, Godmother, and friend to all. She embraced everyone that crossed her path. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones!
