Richard was born on October 27, 1945 in Kansas City, MO. He served 4 years active duty in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran. Richard spent his professional life as a Master Plumber and finished his career as the Facility Manager for Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and School.
Richard was an inspiration to the ones he loved, always emphasizing strength, independence and self-worth. He loved his family furiously, almost as much as he loved fishing! Richard was passionate about animals, nature, and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Richard was preceded in death by his first wife Joyce Hodge and second wife Kathleen Hodge, multiple brothers and sisters, his parents and his many loved pets.
Richard leaves behind his sons, Allen Hodge (Jacque) and Michael Choate; daughters, Tracy Choate and Kelly Majors (Kelly); sister-in-law, Bertha Bledsoe, as well as nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Newcomer’s Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M., Funeral Service 12:00 P.M. Graveside Service with Military Honors to follow at Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens, 25203 E US Hwy 50, Lee’s Summit, MO 64086.
