Richard L. Collins, 75, Kansas City North, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011 at The Gardens on Barry Road. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, January 31st at the McGilley Antioch Chapel, burial in Resurrection Cemetery North. Friends may call from 3-5 PM Sunday at the McGilley Antioch Chapel. Richard was born March 15, 1935 in Kansas City, MO. He was a 1953 graduate of East High School. Richard was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He joined the Kansas City Missouri Fire Department in 1960 and attained the rank of captain. He retired from the department in 1986 and said "it was the best job in the world." Richard was a member of the Northland Duffers for many years. He also enjoyed golfing with his buddies Bob, Don and Al. Richard had many happy memories of "get togethers" with the East High School Class of 1953. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, son, Michael and granddaughter, Sarah.
