Richard Clifford Carter was the firstborn son from the union of Mr. Flanders and Dorothy Carter on April 5, 1949, in Kansas City, Kansas.
Richard graduated from Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1968. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, bravely serving his country in the Vietnam War. Once he returned home, he worked as a Switch Operator for Norfolk & Western Railroad. He was later employed as a Foreman at Sims Industries.
Richard loved Martial Arts in which he acquired several trophies in competition style fighting under the instruction of his cousin, Grandmaster Charles H Carter. Richard always stayed sharp as a tack! He was rarely seen without his brim, 3-piece suit, Florsheims, Stacy Adams shoes, and signature shades.
Richard Carter was preceded in death by his father Flanders Carter and younger brother Theodore Carter. He is survived by his children Richard Carter, Christopher Carter, and Darian Carter with Brenda Carter. Charles T Payne, Makeda Carter, and Aaqila Carter with Rochelle Payne who preceded him in death. His grandchildren Richard Carter Jr., Christopher Carter Jr., Tyreshia Carter, Darian Carter Jr., Sherie Carter, Shyanna Lindsey, Keishai Carter, Ryan Harris, Breana Wolf, and Aubrie Chambers. As well as, six great-grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Dorothy Belcher, two sisters Patricia Phillips and Shirley Belcher, and a host of other family and friends
A visitation for Richard will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Richard will be laid to rest in Mount Moriah Cemetery South with full military honors.
