Raymond Adolph Rinas

Raymond A. Rinas, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018. Visitation will be 9am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, Friday, January 4, 2019 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 9020 E. 51st Terr., Kansas City, MO 64133. Entombment to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Benton House, 1701 NW Jefferson St., Blue Springs, MO 64015; Kansas City Hospice House and Palliative Care, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Suite 200, Kansas City, MO 64114 or St. Bernadette Catholic Church, where Ray and his late wife, Betty were among founding members.

Ray was born February 17, 1928 in Egeland, ND, the eighth of ten children of Adolph and Albertina Rinas. He was raised in Egeland, ND where he graduated from high school. He met the love of his life, Betty, at a dance and after a whirlwind courtship; they were married on June 24, 1950 and moved to Kansas City. They relocated to Raytown in 1954 where Ray started his own plumbing business, R.A. Rinas Plumbing, with a fleet of pink trucks well known in the area. Ray was involved in many other business partnerships over the years.

They were blessed with five children: Terrie, David, Cammie, Beth and Roger, and also have five sons/daughters-in-law: Tom Oxler, Monica Rinas, Chris Turner, Rick Hudson and Gina Rinas. Along came 15 grandchildren: Julie Stroup, Dan Oxler, Molly Harbon, Becca Rinas, Phil Rinas, Tyler Turner, Tim (Ally) Turner, Nick (Amanda) Hudson, Sara Hudson, Dash Hudson, Hank (Kirstie) Hudson, Jacqueline Rinas, Emily Rinas, Tara Rushing and Genevieve Rushing. Ray also leaves behind 13 great grandchildren: Christian, Jackson, Carson, Jordan, Daniel, Lucas, Jagger, Emelia, Drew, Austin, Jacob, Luke and Olivia; his sister, Aggie and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. His traveling companion, Fran Hoeppner, also survives him. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; parents Adolph and Albertina Rinas; brothers Otto, Bruno, Art, and Hugo; sisters Elsie, Edna, Lois, and Evelyn; and several in-laws.
