Peggy was born in Lebanon, Missouri to Allen and Clara Heafley. She had four siblings, Jack, Don, Bud, and Mary Lou. She grew up in Lebanon, attended school there and graduated High School. Peggy moved to Kansas City where she met and later married Van McElvain, Sr. Peggy worked as a secretary for Pittsburg Paint until their marriage. Van and Peggy had three children, Van Jr., Craig, and Lesa. Peggy loved the Kansas City Chiefs. Her passion and love was unusual, as her hobby was cleaning.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Clara Heafley, her four siblings, Jack, Don, Bud, and Mary Lou, her beloved husband Van McElvain, Sr. and son Van McElvain, Jr. She is survived by her children, Craig McElvain, spouse Laurel, daughter, Lesa McElvain and daughter-in-law, Onnie McElvain. She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Peggy will be held Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131, followed by a memorial service from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
