Paula Rios, 71, passed away peacefully on September 6th, in her home in Shawnee, KS, surrounded by family. Paula was a wonderful mother, friend, and teacher. She was a kindergarten and special needs teacher for the Kansas City, MO School District for over 20 years. Paula went to Westport High School and has a master's degree from UMKC. She lived in Los Angeles, CA in the 1970's for eight years, then returned to her hometown of Kansas City. She enjoyed cooking, walking in the park, and travel -- especially her trip to Paris, France. Paula will be lovingly remembered by her children, Audrey Voorhies and Bill (Jessica) Voorhies, and her grandchildren, Sierra and Thomas Voorhies.
A visitation reception will be held on Wednesday, September 12, from 5-7 p.m. at McGilley Memorial Chapel-Midtown where the rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 13, at 11:00 a.m. at Guardian Angels Parish, 1310 Westport Rd. KCMO. Condolences may be made at www.mcgilleymidtownchapel.com
