Patrick was born November 7, 1930 in Des Moines, Iowa. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Gladys O’Brien and his brother Harrison O’Brien. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Rosemary “Charlie” O’Brien; three nieces, Cathy Pendell, Diane O’Brien and Erin O’Brien; and nephew Michael O’Brien.
Patrick graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw, Michigan in 1948. He lettered in track for two years, specializing in the two sprints and the 880-yard relay. His team won the State Regional Championship.
In 1951 he enlisted (during the Korean War) in the U.S. Naval Intelligence Unit and served proudly.
Patrick was employed for many years as General Manager of Shepherd Team Auto Plaza in Fort Scott, Kansas and was a close friend to the owner, David R. Shepherd.
He was a member in good standing with St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and a devout member of the church’s Adoration Chapel for many years. He, along with his wife, were members of several charities and were both actively involved with the Meals on Wheels program.
Being of Irish decent, Patrick was known to enjoy “popping the cork.”
A Memorial Service will be held at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday, January 7, at 10:00 a.m.
