Patricia (Patty) Ring was born July 10, 1940 in Marshfield, Missouri. She was born to Clifford E. (Dick) and June (Clark) Richardson. She spent her early years living in Marshfield, a small rural town near Springfield, Missouri. Her family including her younger brother, Bob, moved to California seeking a better life when Patty was around 5 years old. She loved California and living near family friends. Her family frequently went to the beach for picnics. In California, her dad struggled to support his young family and they decided to move to Oklahoma so that he could learn to become a carpenter from his uncle. After several years in Oklahoma, they moved to Independence, Missouri to live closer to family.
Patty attended William Chrisman High School graduating in 1958. During her high school years, she wrote for the school newspaper and was a member of the Nautilus Literary Society serving as secretary. Patty always loved to write and over her lifetime has read hundreds of books. She enjoyed the mysteries the most. The writer in her would sometimes review the books like a professional critic. After high school, she attended Central Missouri State University seeking a career in business. During this time, Patty was working at a drive-in to earn money for college when she met the love of her life, Ronnie Ring. Ronnie swept her off her feet and they married August 29th, 1959. Instead of a career in business or becoming a famous writer, Patty became a wonderful wife and mother to their three children, Terri, Ronnie Jr., and Debbie. Patty always put her family first above everything else. Her children were blessed with a caring, loving and supportive mother.
Patty had a creative approach to work life and had an entrepreneur spirit. She started a craft business from scratch, created a craft mall for others, and became restaurant manager. During all of these adventures she put her heart into helping others. She provided guidance with her creativity during painting classes. She worked well with teenagers and would help guide them in a positive direction. She was not just a boss but a motherly figure to those who needed it the most.
Patty’s children benefited the most from her guidance, support and love. With open arms, she loved all the “in-laws” as her own children. She will always be remembered as an exceptional loving person to all who were blessed to be part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie A. Ring, Sr.; father and mother, Clifford E. (Dick) Richardson and June L. (Clark) Richardson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wesley Ring and Lucille (Worden) Ring; and brother-in-law, Chester Adkins.
