Pam Burke, 72, peacefully passed away on Saturday November 15, 2014 following a stroke. Born in Kansas City, Mo. to Charles and Audrey Shafer, both deceased, Pam was a graduate of Southwest High School and earned a bachelor’s degree at Missouri University-Columbia. Raising her two beloved daughters, Pam rejoiced in the opportunity to volunteer as their Brownie and Girl Scout leader and class Room Mom. As an educator to elementary students in the Center School district, Pam took great pleasure in furthering her own knowledge and passion for history by taking SPARK UMKC courses and Adventures in Learning through Shepard Center Central. Involved in a plethora of philanthropic activities, Pam was an active member of and held several offices in; AAUW, P.E.O., Delta Kappa Gamma, Reciprocity, Round Robin Study Group, Red Hat Society and Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Pam leaves behind daughters Colleen Burke Myers and Erin Burke; grandchildren: Caitlin, Colin, Cameron and Kieran Myers; sister Alison Bond, and her children Dennis and Rebecca. A vivacious and spirited lover of theater, the arts, antiques, and spending quality time with her family, Pam will be dearly missed by her loved ones and friends. A celebration of Pam's life will take place on Friday, November 21, at Country Club Christian Church, 6101 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be held from 9:30am-11:00am, immediately followed by a service in the church. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
