Funeral Services will be at 11:30am, Monday, December 23, 2024, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO with burial in Mount Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30am – 11:30am on Monday morning.
Norma was born on May 7, 1933, in Kansas City, MO. She was the only child of Dorothy and Maurice Person. She went to school in Kansas City where she later met her future husband, Robert “Mick” Lightner and they were married on October 23, 1950.
They had a great life together and they loved spending time with their children and grandchildren. Some of their fondest memories were on their farm in Collins, MO where they owned a variety of animals and spent a lot of time with family. They were married for 54 years until Mick lost his battle with cancer in 2004.
Norma was preceded in death by her loving husband and three children: Fred Giles, Mike Lightner and Pat Connely. She is survived by her grandchildren, Brandy Strock and husband Doug, Levi Lightner, Tavish Lighter, Troy Giles, Chris Giles, Zach Giles, Dorothy Giles and 15 great-grandchildren.
