Michael J. Alexander, 66, of Raymore, MO died at his home on June 6, 2018 of lung cancer. Funeral services will be Monday, June 11 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, Kansas City, MO at 2:00 pm with visitation at 1:00 pm. Graveside services will follow the funeral service.
Mike was born March 18, 1952 in Concordia, KS and grew up in Kansas City, KS. He attended Savior of the World Seminary and graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1970. He and his wife Nancy were married 29 years and lived in Raymore, Mo. He made his career as a computer programmer, working for Commerce Bank and for American Century Services. He loved playing golf, watching the Kansas City Chiefs, and hanging out with friends and neighbors. Spending time with family was most important to him, and he was lovingly known as Papa by his grandchildren. He and Nancy loved travelling in their RV and making lifelong friends along the way.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; sons Scott Olander (Stephanie), Aaron Shockley and Tim Alexander (Sara); and daughter Ashley Rinear. He leaves 6 ½ grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. He is also survived by sisters Nancy Leicht (Tom) of Jacksonville, FL and Carol Delue (Jim) of Cedar Hill, MO; and a brother Tom Alexander (Debbie) of Salina, KS; and many nieces and nephews who meant the world to him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Isadore and Eva Alexander, and brothers Dennis and John.
