Age 95, Marybeth was born in Hollywood, FL to Willard G. and Mary T. Malsie. Following her father’s military career, they moved to Chicago before settling in Kansas City. She attended St. Elizabeth grade school, St. Teresa Academy and St. Teresa College before earning an advanced degree at UMKC. Marybeth taught mathematics 30 years with the Kansas City Public School District at Southeast Jr. High and Bingham Jr. High. She ended her career as the Grades 6-12 math coordinator. Following retirement, she served as the facilitator for PBS MathLine. Marybeth was a member of The Kansas City and Missouri Area Teachers of Mathematics. Marybeth played her first church accompaniment in 1940. This continued at St. Elizabeth’s, Our Lady of Lourdes, Christ the King, and Brookdale Wornall Place. Marybeth married Jack Swartz in 1947. Following his death in 2004, she married Dr. James F. O’Malley, who died in 2012.
Preceding her in death are her parents and sisters Jean and Luanne, along with sons Tom and Jim. Continuing to mourn her loss are sons, John and Joe Swartz, and daughter Susan Patrick. She leaves 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for Friday, October 7, 2022 at Curé of Ars Catholic Church. Visitation at 9:30am followed by Mass at 10:30am.
