Mary Elizabeth Price

Mary Elizabeth Price, 87 of Independence, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Saint Luke's Hospice House. Mary was born on November 11, 1935 to Ellis and Rosa Counts, in Pomona, Missouri. Mary attended school in a one room elementary school and later graduated from West Plains High School. After high school Mary went on to have a long career with Hallmark in its corporate headquarters and in retirement she worked with the Salvation Army.

Mary is preceded in death by her Parents Ellis and Rosa Counts; Siblings, Edward Counts and Shirley Delany; Ex-husband, William Giddings; and Husband Cosby "Buck" Price.

Mary is survived by her Son, Kenneth Giddings; Granddaughter, Heather (Kimo) Russell; Grandson, Aaron (Ashley) Giddings; Great Grandson, Jayden Russell; Nephews John (Fang-Piau) De Lany and Steve (Lannette) Counts, and Daughter-in-law Sherwyn Contreras.

Mary was always willing to help out those people and animals who were less fortunate in life and at various times Mary opened her house to people who needed guidance and assistance. In life Mary was known for her deep fondness for family, vodka sours and black cats. Mary requested that no tears be shed over her passing, and asked instead that those who knew her share a smile with one another over their time with her, because she assured us she would be smiling back down at them.

Visitation will be at 4:00 pm, Friday, September 1, 2023 at First Christian Church, 125 S. Pleasant Street, Independence, MO 64050, with a memorial service to follow. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to KC Pet Project or your local humane society.
