Mary Lou was born on December 27, 1924 in Hutchinson, KS. She moved as a young girl to Kansas City, MO growing up west of the Plaza. Mary attended Swinney School (elementary) and graduated from Westport High School. In 1943 Mary married John (Eldon) raising two children John and Marcia.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Curtis “Dude” and Edith Murdock, husband John Eldon and son-in-law Joe Rosenfelt. She is survived by son John D. (Esther) Hurelbrink, and daughter Marcia K. Rosenfelt, grandchildren Laura (Dale) Wolfgram, Lisa (Randy) Good, Lynne (Sam) Paul, Todd (Kim) Rosenfelt, Traci (Jeff) Tyler, sixteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Lane Wyman, many nieces, great-nieces and nephews.
Mary worked briefly at Klines, downtown K.C. She became an accomplished seamstress and even upholstered furniture. Mary also created beautiful oil landscapes on canvas. Mary’s greatest job of all was being a stay-at-home mother, lovingly raising her children and caring for her husband.
Mary’s family wants to sincerely thank all the caregivers at Foxwood Springs Skilled Nursing and to Brookdale Hospice who lovingly provided support and comfort for our mother. You are all our Angels and we truly appreciate your dedication.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 22, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO 64131. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with memorial service at 11:00 a.m. followed by graveside service. In lieu of flowers, it would be an honor to have contributions made in her memory to Ronald McDonald House of Kansas City (RMHC), 2502 Cherry St., Kansas City, MO 64108, to support their wonderful work.
