Mary F. (Cisper) Diebold, 97 of Independence, MO, died on May 19th at Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. (Rosary at 7 p.m.) on Wed, May 21 at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood KCMO. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd, Independence, MO. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. Mary was born on Aug. 29, 1916 in Kansas City, MO to Frank and Walburga (Luger) Cisper. As a child, she attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and often told everyone she lived on roller skates. Mary lived the majority of her life in the Kansas City West Side. Besides Sacred Heart Church she was also a parishioner at St. Bernadette’s, St. Joseph the Worker, and St. Mark’s. She was involved in various church organizations and the PTA. As an avid gardener and excellent cook, Mary loved to prepare food for large family gatherings. She also liked to embroider and crochet. Her favorite quote was, “when you lose your mother you’ve lost the best friend you ever had.”
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence B. Diebold; son, Eugene Diebold; and daughter, Judith Diebold. She is survived by her children, Ronnie Diebold (Donna), Smithville MO, Dick Diebold, Palm Harbor, FL, Juanita Wright, Deepwater, MO, JoAnn Hawthorne, Deepwater, MO, Delores Harding (Dean), Independence, MO, Tom Diebold (Patti), Lowry City, MO, Mary Cockrell (Steve), KCMO, Stephen Diebold (Debra), Blue Springs, MO, Kathy Ross (John), Independence, MO, Frank Diebold (Barbara), Killeen, TX, Kenny Diebold, Grandview, MO; 34 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 36 great-great-grandchildren.
