Mary was born in Bremen, Kansas, on December 17, 1923, the daughter of Joseph and Agatha (White) Greiveldinger. Mary and her siblings spent a delightful childhood on the family farm that was originally homesteaded by Patrick and Bridget Hynes in the 1860s. She attended the Brooks Country School and graduated from Marysville High School in 1942. Mary was a school teacher before later working at the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant where she would meet her husband, Robert C. (Bob) Buehler. On November 29, 1947, Bob and Mary were married at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Kansas City, Missouri, beginning a devoted marriage that would span over 54 years. Upon the untimely death of Mary’s younger sister, Bob and Mary took her sister’s daughter, Christine, into their care. The birth of their son, Robert M. Buehler, followed.
Mary worked as a dental technician for over forty years with several dentists, including Drs. Gossett, Eversull, and LeBow. She was an active member of Curé of Ars Catholic Church throughout much of her adult life. In 2008, Mary relocated to Dallas, Texas, to be closer to her son and his family. Throughout her life, she enjoyed maintaining relationships with extended family, documenting family history and recording events with photos and videos. She cherished these lifelong relationships through frequent letters and phone calls. Mary was known for her acts of kindness and for sharing her love of all things sweet with family and friends. Although she lived most of her life in city environments, Mary always considered herself a farmgirl at heart and reflected fondly on her times in rural Kansas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Agatha Greiveldinger; her husband, Robert Calvin Buehler; her brother, Maurice Greiveldinger; and her sisters Jean Greiveldinger Otiker and Agatha Jo Greiveldinger Kennally. Survivors include her son, Bob, and daughter-in-law, Amy; her treasured granddaughers, Audrey, Liesel, and Kirsten Buehler; her “Dolly”, Christine Kennally Fleming; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 1, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. at Curé of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, Kansas. Visitation will precede the Mass, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Church. All are invited to a reception at Curé of Ars (Fr. Burak Room) following the Mass. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery Memorial following the reception.
