Marilyn was born to the late Dean and Lois Miller of Redfield, IA in January of 1936. She spent her youth on the farm, attending school, participating in 4H club and graduating from Washington Township in 1954.
She met and married Billy Dean Brown of Pattonsburg, MO in August of 1957. From that marriage, her only child was born in 1958. That union dissolved in 1967.
Marilyn moved her family of two to Cedar Rapids, IA in 1969. There she started her professional secretarial career with Johnson Controls.
In 1977 George Valentine Kent came a courting…they married @ Stony Point Christian Church in 1979. Both George and Marilyn were long time members and active in many ministries of the church.
Marilyn achieved her AA degree from Johnson County Community College and her Professional Secretarial Certification. She transferred to Johnson Controls in Lenexa, KS from Cedar Rapids, IA and retired from professional work in 2006.
Marilyn cherished her Jesus, her George, their many cats, her dolls & ceramics, several genres of music, their many friends and family along with her Professional Secretaries Group…where numerous gatherings were held at their home with that group of ladies…
She was preceded in death by her loving husband George in July of 2013. She is survived by her daughter, Chris and son-in-law, Michael; four fur grand cats (Chloe, Cody, Hope & Herby, she would love to mention their names and pet them any chance she got); her brother, Ervin Miller and his wife, Donna; and numerous family members and friends.

The family would like to recognize the loving care given to Marilyn the last four years @ Glenwood Village Assisted Living in Overland Park, KS.
Also, the Monarch Hospice group and their tender care and attention during her final days.
