She was born on February 5th 1938 in Springfield Missouri, the first child of William Q. Kehr and Hazel Marie Hale Kehr. After graduation from High school, she attended Williams Woods College in Fulton, Missouri where she met and married Wilford (Bill) Bishop III who was attending nearby Westminster College.
Marilyn and Bill began their life together in St. Louis, Missouri and were blessed with two children, Mark Bishop, and Stephanie Meeker. Then in 1966 they moved to the Kansas City area where they remained for the next 52 years.
In the late 1970’s, Marilyn decided she wanted to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse and graduated from Research Nursing School in 1982. Marilyn loved working as a Nurse and spent the next 22 years working in women’s health centered offices.
Marilyn lived a good life and was a dedicated member of Prairie Baptist Church for over 40 years. At Prairie she sang in the choir, played in the bell group, taught Sunday school and served as a Deacon.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wilford Bishop III, and her parents William and Hazel Kehr. Marilyn is survived by two children Mark (Becky) Bishop and Stephanie Meeker; five grandchildren, Ryan (Katie) Bishop, Daniel Bishop, Chris Bishop, Aaron Robertson and Jesse Daringer; two great-grandchildren, Jaxon and James Bishop; two brothers, William (Lucy) Kehr and R. Webster Kehr as well as nine nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held at 10:00am Saturday, January 12th followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00am at Prairie Baptist Church, 7416 Roe Boulevard, Prairie Village, Kansas.
