She grew up in the Kansas City area and married Charles E. Johnson on April 9,1948 in Lee's Summit, MO. During World War II she was an airplane engine component inspector for Pratt & Whitney. She was a homemaker and mother but in her later years she began working at the Little Sisters of the Poor. She worked in the dietary department and then as the front desk receptionist for 13 years. After employment, she moved to the Little Sisters of the Poor and resided there for 22 years. So she spent a total of 35 years working and living at the Little Sisters of the Poor.
She enjoyed her big garden and canned vegetables for her entire family. She was known for her baking skills and especially her delicious pies. She would always bring them to the church potlucks and family remembers dessert at every meal. She was an avid sports fan enjoying Royals baseball, KC Chiefs, KU basketball. Her family recalls Charles and her listening to sports on the transistor radio outside the garage of their home in the evenings. She had a very strong faith in Jesus and her church family. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Grandview all her life.
She is survived by one daughter; Donna (the late Charles) Anderson of Branson West. MO. and two sons; Charles (Wife: Jama) Johnson of Bradenton, FL, and Larry (Wife: Hope) Johnson of Show Low, AZ. and one great grandson; Austin Anderson. She was preceded in death by; her parents, husband, grandson; Matthew Anderson and five siblings; Aline, Leon, George Jr., Hazel and Mildred.
