Marcia Lynn Armstrong Presley was born November 24, 1933 at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She passed away after a brief illness on November 8, 2019 at Saint Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Missouri at the age of 85.
Her early years were spent spending time with her beloved parents travelling, camping and fishing. She always had a spirit of adventure that followed her into her adult life.
Her family and children were the most important part of her life. As a single mother, she raised four children in the 60’s and 70’s. Her kids were the most glowing part of her life. Few people have as close a relationship as she shared with her parents and brother. They had so much love they shared together and were nearly inseparable. Whether you were her niece, nephew, grandchild, great-grandchild or friend, she cherished the individual person and those relationships.
She was able to earn her pilots license at the age of 50 and loved the freedom of flying. It was an accomplishment she was very proud of. She bought a Motor Home and travelled fulltime extensively. She made so many wonderful friends during this time. The sense of adventure lived strong in her spirit.
Marcia worked as the executive Secretary for the Department of Housing and Urban Development for 35 years and retired in 2000.
She was a strong and positive woman. She fought many hard won battles with multiple health issues and personal tragedies with her incredible strength and grace.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Bonnie Armstrong, her brother Kent Armstrong, and her daughter Sandra Henroid.
She is survived by her children, Dierk Rice, Sr. Brenda Wilson, and Reed Rice (Erin Rafferty), Her grandchildren, Steven Rice (Nighthawk), Dierk Rice Jr. (Katelyn), Marshall Blake Hill (Britani), Jerry Wilson, Alec Wilson, Natalie Naeja, Jacqueline Rice and Josh Henroid (Jessica), Her great grandchildren, Cullen, Alannah, Henry, Ryan, Sophia, Madelyn, and Noah.
