Louise was born in Gross, Kansas (a coal town in Southeast Kansas) on October 10, 1926. She was born at home to Rose Marie and Olgar Opitz. She graduated from Arcadia, Kansas High School and attended business college in Frt. Scott, KS. When Louise was a young lady, she was selected as her town's Coal Queen. After World War II, she moved with her husband Bill to the Kansas City area where she was an Administrative Assistant at Royal Globe Insurance.
Louise enjoyed square dancing, sewing, cooking and baking. She made many wedding cakes for friends and family. She made her own clothes and many gifts. She told us that if you could read you could cook. She passed on her love for sewing and cooking to her children. Through all this, family came first. Holiday and family gatherings were priceless to Louise. She loved to visit friends and family. She was a long-term member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Kansas City North, the X-Prisoner of War (XPOW) organization, and a volunteer at Clay County Clothes Closet.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 AM Saturday, March 2nd at St Gabriel Catholic Church. Burial will be 10:00 AM Monday, March 4th at Leavenworth National Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, March 1st, at the McGilley Antioch Chapel, where a rosary will be prayed at 6:00PM. In lieu of flowers the family welcomes donations to Louise's favorite charities: St. Pius X High School, Clay County Clothes Closet, St. Gabriel Archangel Parish, and St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, all in the Kansas City, MO Northland.
