Leslie H. Acord

January 14, 1921 – January 15, 2014

Leslie H. Acord, 93, of Kansas City, passed away quietly with his family nearby on January 15, 2014. Services will be Monday January 20 at 10:00 AM at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City where a visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial will take place at East Slope Cemetery, Riverside, MO.

Leslie was born January 14, 1921 in Mound City, MO to Willis and Clora (Smith) Acord. As a young boy, the family moved to Waldron, MO. In September, 1942, Leslie joined the Army and a week later married Agnes Hughes. When he was discharged in 1945, Leslie and Agnes located in Kansas City. The two enjoyed 50 years of life together, until Agnes passed in 1992.

In September, 2000, Leslie married Myrtle West, who preceded him in death in July 2007.

Leslie was a member of Fidelity Masonic Lodge #339, achieving the distinction of Master and Grandmaster. He was also a member of the Director’s Staff at the Ararat Shrine.

Survivors include sons Howard (Kay) Acord, Lawrence (Karen) Acord, daughter Penny Lynn (Phillip) Davidson, son William (Sandra) Acord, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Sherman Acord and sister Mary Jo Wilkinson.

The family suggests contributions to the VA of Leavenworth, Kansas.
