Lawrence M Elliott, 93, Smithville, passed away peacefully June 4, 2014. Services will be Saturday June 7, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place Monday June 9, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Purdin Cemetery, Purdin, MO.

Lawrence was born September 13, 1920 to Lawrence and LaVerne Elliott in Purdin, Missouri. He served in the Army during WWII in the Philippine Theater as a Staff Sergeant in the 188th Engineer Aviation Battalion.

Lawrence and his father operated a grocery store and cattle ranch in Purdin, MO. After his father’s death, he moved his family to Kansas City in 1955. He worked at as Traffic Manager at Midwest Conveyor until he retired in 1986. He served as an elder in his beloved Church of Christ in Kansas City, where he was a member for over 60 years.

Preceded in death by Nadine, his wife of 64 years, Lawrence is survived by son Roger and daughter-in-law Carol Elliott; grandchildren Kimberly (Beau) Benner and Robert Smyth and great-grandchildren Isabella, Merry, Jacob and Sydney.
