I met Laura in 1980 at Avila College. We became good friends and we kept in contact off n on until around 1993. I always thought about her and where life had led here. I tried to look her up  about 10 years ago without any luck. I just found her obituary and made my heart so heavy. Nick if you read this I am so sorry for your loss i thought the world of you Mom. We have lost a truly novel soul. Laura's oddball sense of humor brightened my life through a personal dark time and I don't think she even knew what a gift her friendship was to me.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Laura's family. I trained with Laura in 508 at RCMS. Unfortunately with busy schedules and Laura moving back to KC, we lost contact over the last couple of years. The last time we spoke was actually a couple of summers ago when I was coincidentally driving through KC on the way to New Jersey for the summer. I called to say "Laura, I'm thinking of you." We laughed and talked about going to Nicaragua the following summer. People please, don't put things off, you never know when someone you love and care about will be taken unexpectedly. Laura, you truly were a unique and special person. I hope you are in a better place. "Take care my friend."

I was very sad to hear the news that Laura had passed from this life.  The last time I spoke to her we talked of friendship and new beginnings, it was her dream to return to the desert to live.  I am sorry she did not achieve that dream, but I believe God sends us where we are needed. I will remember the energy she brought to where ever she was, the comfort and gift of hope she gave to children.  Laura, so loved her animals, I am sure they miss her so.  And she spoke of the love she held in her heart for her family.  May God give you the peace of God which passes all understanding.  I am the lady who lives in her home in Palm Springs, I have been sitting in the back yard drinking coffee and thinking of her, her loving touch is everywhere.

I can hear Laura saying "How you doing my friend" I too worked with Laura at Raymond Cree. We became the best of friends. Even with our moves to different states we always kept contact with each other. So many good memories!! I was anxious for here move back to Palm Springs, where she truly loved to be. Sorry for your loss.  I worked with Laura at RC  classroom 508. So many fond memories, .I assisted her in packing those Palm Springs CA Oranges,  from her backyard, to send to her family during the holidays.I must say they are the best.She touched many lives of students and teachers, I will miss her laughter.Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Laura was a great friend to me for many years. She taught in the classroom next to mine at Raymond Cree Middle School, and she always started my day off with a laugh or a smile. She was kind to everyone, she cared about people, especially her family, friends, and her students, in fact she volunteered to help any student who was in need. If anyone had a problem she was the first one there to try to help. She was an excellent teacher, and her students loved her. I was fortunate to have her as a friend. Laura was loved by many, and she will be deeply missed.

My prayers are with Laura's family at this time. I'm a teacher and I worked with Laura for ten years while she was in Palm Springs.  She was a wonderful friend..  My heart is broken and I am so very sorry to hear this. .

Dear Aunt Nel, Girls and Nick,

The smiling picture of Laura on this page is how I'll always remember her.  Words can't quite describe how sorry we all are.
