Larry was born December 1, 1938 to Charles Robert and Bonnie Mae (Smith) Moss in Caldwell County, MO. He was 1957 graduate of Central High School, KCMO. In 1956 Larry enlisted in U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1968. On June 22, 1957 he married his high school sweetheart, Rita Smith of KCMO. Larry spent his working life in banking. With his sons, he was active in Boy Scouts of America. Larry belonged to Fairview Christian Church of Gladstone, MO. In 1989 he joined Alpha Masonic Lodge #659 where he served as Master for two terms. In 1990 Larry and his wife joined Alpha Order of the Eastern Star. He was also a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and in 2005 was Grand Orator of the Grand Lodge of Missouri.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Charles Richard Moss.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Rita; children, Allen of the home; Russell and his partner, Gail, of Weatherby, MO, Cathy Maudlin of Hamilton, MO, and Ray and wife, Charlene, of Weatherby, MO; 11 grandchildren, Angela and Conrad Sutton of Cabool, MO, Joshua and Trina of Electa, TX, Charles and Jessica of Lathrop, MO, Jed and Alice Moss of Nacogdoches, TX, Jacob and Amanda Moss, serving in the U.S. Army in Colorado, Jessica Budgett of Weatherby, MO, Suzie and Brian Smith of Kearney, MO, Mandy and Scott Johnson of Lake Lotowana, MO, Zac and Katelyn Maudlin, Union Star, MO, Jeremy Maudlin of Hamilton, MO, Mary and Mike Purcell of Hamilton, MO; 28 great-grandchildren with 1 "on the way"; a sister Linda Moss of St. Paul, MN, and a brother Gary and wife, Dixie of KCMO; numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM Friday, September 24th, with a Masonic and Funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM at the McGilley Antioch Chapel, burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer, MO. Contributions are suggested to Alpha Lodge #659 of North Kansas City, MO.
