Kelley was born in Kansas City, Missouri on April 18, 1975. She was a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend as well as a very kind and caring oncologist. Her colleagues and patients talk about her compassion more than anything else. Kelley always gave more than was expected; she did anything she could to help.
Kelley attended both St. Francis Xavier and St. Thomas More for grade school. She attended and graduated from Archbishop O’Hara High School in 1993. From there, she graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science. Kelley was accepted and graduated medical school from MU. She completed her residency and a fellowship in oncology/hematology at University of Kentucky, Lexington. Kelley has practiced in Kansas City since 2008. She was intelligent, determined and strong-willed, but very loving and sincere. She cared deeply about her family, her friends, and her patients.
Kelley was a dedicated wife to her husband, John, and mother to her children Jack (15) and Samantha (13) of the home. She also leaves behind her parents, Karen and Bill Tritt and sister Amy Martin, her husband, Chris and children Jimmy and Leslie. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lauren Tritt. Kelley also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, colleagues and friends. Kelley was a vivacious person and made everyone feel included and welcomed into anything of which she was a part.
Kelley and John had a place at Lake of the Ozarks and loved the lake life on weekends when they could get away. She was always the life of the party and everyone’s best friend. Kelley was always ready for a game of any kind; sand volleyball, spades, gin rummy or Catch Phrase. Although she always wanted to win, she wanted everyone to play more. Kelley was the one you could always go to if you needed help or advice or just someone to talk with.
There is no doubt Kelley will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know her. She enriched every life she touched. It did not matter if you were family, friend, colleague or a patient, she was warm, caring and funny and did her best to leave you in a better mood when she left you. Thank you, Kelley, for living life to the fullest; we love you!
Kelley’s family would like to thank the health care workers and care givers at both Menorah Hospital and K C Hospice House for all their kindness and compassion for Kelley while she was in their care.
