A celebration of Kaye’s life will be with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 27 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4101 East 105th Terrace, KCMO. Rosary will be prayed Tuesday at the Church at 5 PM followed by visitation until 8:00 PM. Burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Kaye was born on March 4, 1912 in Chillicothe, MO. She was the youngest daughter of Michael and Mary Helena (Martin) Maloney. She met Henry Kammerer, Jr. in KC where she had moved to attend college. They were married for almost 60 years.
She was active at St. James’ parish and school and was a homemaker until her children were grown. Later she worked at IRS until she retired. She was a member of the “Young of Heart” and a dedicated member of St. Catherine’s parish for 50 years where she served on the Finance Committee with her husband.
She moved to Villa Ventura in 2004 and shortly thereafter, because of her outgoing personality and friendliness, knew everyone by their first name. Kaye lived her Catholic faith and attended Mass daily. During her prayers each evening she spoke to God and mentioned by name each of her 5 children and their spouses, all of her 23 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Whenever someone was in need she would add them to her prayer list. She was grateful to God for everything and made everyone feel appreciated.
Kaye was preceded in death by her husband Henry M. Kammerer, Jr. in 1994; her parents and 4 sisters, Agnes von David, Alice Davenport, Esther Zumalt and Ella Grace Cramner, and grandson, Danny Stewart.
She is survived by her 5 children and their spouses, Rosemary (Bruce) Gilbert, Largo, FL, Tom (Jo) Kammerer, Kaye (Jerry) Meiners, and Carolyn (Tom) Stewart, all of Kansas City, MO, and John (Beth) Kammerer, Wichita, KS. 23 grandchildren: Frank Gilbert, Debbie (Jeff) Golden, Tim, Tom (Michele) Kammerer, Anne Dvergsten, George (Katie), Gerard (Whitney), David (Kelly), John (Kelly) and Bill Meiners, Mary (David) Braddock, Liz (Mike) Muckerman, Virginia (Pat) Stanton, Tom, Mike and Mary Alice Stewart, John (Tara), Pete, Maggie, Nick and Melanie Kammerer, Katie ( Mark) Haffield, 24 great grandchildren, soon to be 25. She leaves many nephews, nieces and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine’s Church.
