Although I never met the Grant sisters, their music was exceptional. I'm 71 now, and still love their music.  If one was having a bad day, a few minutes of this beautiful music,  was all it took, to place a wide smile on ones face.

I hope that you and your sister know how deeply you influenced the lives of countless children in Kansas City.  Every major city in the world should have a 'Gant Sisters' available to their children. Riccardo Muti  has said that if we abandon the pursuit of beauty in music, art or dance  - we will be lost.  A symphony orchestra costs less than one footballer today.  Culture does not exist to make a profit. It exists to create better citizens.  What kind of people will prevail if we are not able to recognize beauty?     
The Gant Sisters have been an example of beauty.   That is priceless.
Kay, you will be forever missed.

I did Kay's mani pedi 's for years. She was a delight to talk to. We laughed a lot.  She was a very special person, kind, thoughtful and always smiling.  I think she knew just about every child & parent in town. Her school was right next door to the shop & we  could hear the children singing & laughing. They were having a great time!I will  truly miss her. My deepest sympathy to her son & sister Liz.  Please know I'm thinking of you at this difficult time. Love to you both. Vicky Adams❤️❤️


Liz and Patrick, I am so sorry to hear of Kay’s passing. I remember our first meeting some 40 years ago, our businesses sharing the West Mall at RanchMart North. Her friendliness, love of children, love of music, and her talents were so very obvious. The community has lost a Christian and caring woman.
    She will be missed by many.

The world lost such a beautiful soul… a beautiful Christian woman, someone who loved and poured into the hearts and minds of children and her family, someone who made you feel so loved and special every moment you were with her.. From such an early age I remember my days at music school… that summer Aubrey and I got to be the little Gant sisters in Pinocchio at the Coterie ￼and days outside of music school we spent with Kay and Liz, early on with their mother Ruth at her home, at Kay’s, our lunches at Panera… as I grew up and spent plenty of hours on the phone with Kay talking about life and music and of course boys… she always gave the best advice and the best hugs and that kiss on the cheek that left the signature red lipstick mark… there were days I would go to music school when my school was out as a teen and be so happy to ‘help’ but really I just loved my time with the Gants… days I would skip school and go to music school instead 🤣 they never condoned that… but never made me leave either ♡ then my little Jillian came along… Jillian Kay.. Kay LOVED Jillian just like she loved me.. she smiled and cried when I told her she was Jillian Kay… Kay for her, her namesake… they gave beautiful gifts to both my children… the rocking horse for Henry is my absolute favorite I think… I will forever be so blessed to have known you.. to have been so lucky to have called you my family.. when the world knows and loves the Gants it’s so precious to be on the inside… to have really been a part of your life and know how special that is… You’re in Heaven now with Jesus… and your Gene and your sweet mother Ruth, give Great-Grandmother a hug for me ♥ until we meet again Kay.. I love you!

Our neighbor, friend and family member passed away this past weekend. She truly was a saint!  Her love of music which she shared with many generations of children will be carried in our hearts.  She loved every child who came to the Giant Sister’s.  We will miss her dearly.

I will never forget Kay.  She was compassionate, very good-humored, honest, trustworthy, intellectually sharp, a good businessperson and  a true joy to know and spend time with.  The time flew and you found yourself wishing the time wouldn't end.  Patrick and Liz - our sincerest condolences for the loss of your dear mother and sister.   Leawood won't be the same without her!
