Josephine Diaz Ortega, 89, of Kansas City, MO died on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at KU Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, January 19 at McGilley Midtown Chapel, burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation from 10 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at the chapel.
Josephine was born March 11, 1931 in Kansas City, MO to Dario and Sophia Juarez Diaz. She worked 50 years for Sunshine Biscuit Company, now Keebler, retiring as an inspector in 1996. She enjoyed taking care of other family and cooking and she loved to go dancing.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Joaquin Rodriguez; her sons, Salvador Ortega and George Ortega; her brothers, Arthur, Henry, Charles Diaz and Frank Rodriguez; her sister, Lupe Rodriguez and son-in-law Ryan Rimbey.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Ortega-Quinones and her husband Sam and her companion, Laurentino Delacruz; her sister, Mary Roseburrough and her husband, Walter and her brother Ed Rodriguez and his wife Joyce of Texas; grandchildren, Jeannette Ortega-Rimbey and grandson John Ortega; great granddaughters, Ava and Anya and numerous nieces and nephews.
