Odes was 77. He passed away, due to cancer, early Saturday July 16, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
He was born in Port-Salut, Cayes (Haiti) to his parents Mesonne St.-Hilaire and Norcilia Chavannes. He grew up with his siblings: Sonette, Eliette, Marie Carmen, Lumen, Marie Vancol, Facile, Iverose, Evelyn, Nana, Dieuseul, Sacris, Wilnere, Jacques, Venel, Frenel, Jean Vaval, Jean Robert, Odette, and Heureuse.
As a young man, Odes had a passion for free style dance, and enjoyed the company of many of his beloved family and close friends. As he got older, he attended The Military Academy of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. His accomplishments led him to become a pilot. He was stationed in Texas for his training from 1982 to 1983 and thereafter, through work, discipline and dedication, he rose to the rank of Aviation Colonel in the Haitian Army.
However, to Odes himself, his biggest accomplishment was his success to raising loving, respectful and good-hearted children, and being a proud Grandpa of his grandchildren.
In his early twenties he had Guerda and Nirva. In 1976, Odes married Anne-Marie Desir They were introduced through a best friend and fell in love. Within two years, they got married and created a blended family completed with Guerda, Nirva, Syndie, Cassandre, and Steeve.
Being a kind and dependable father was of the utmost importance to Odes, and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family. Beyond all, Odes was a decent, honest, self-disciplined, and dignifying human being. The family will dearly miss him.
In addition to his wife Anne-Marie St. Hilaire, his children Guerda, Nirva, Syndie, Cassandre, and Steeve, Odes is survived by his grandchildren Rose-Bertine, Murielle, Enianita, Vanessa, Megane, and Ethän. He was preceded in passing by his brother and sister Odette, and Heureuse.
His funeral service will be held at:
Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133 Saturday July 30th at 11:00 AM.
Visitation and meet start at 9:00 am
A reception will follow at the same location.
