Joe was born on April 26, 1925 in Mt. Vernon, Missouri to the late Janie Faye Ruth Cavin and James Joseph Edward Miller. He served in the Army during WW2 and was honorably discharged in 1946 after reaching the rank of Corporal.
Joe married Corinne (Corky) Stewart in Springfield, MO on August 29, 1947 and celebrated 69 years of wonderful marriage. He graduated in May, 1950 from Missouri School of Mines (now Missouri University of Science and Technology) in Rolla. MO with a degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduation he was employed by Bendix Aviation Corporation in Kansas City, Missouri until he retired in 1992. He recently moved to Edmond, Oklahoma to be closer to family
He led an active life enjoying town team basketball, fastpitch softball, golf, bowling, cards, fishing, dancing, coaching, and video poker. Joe was an avid Kansas City Royals and Chiefs fan while watching the games from his favorite lazy boy chair. He was an enthusiastic cheerleader for his sons Stan and Ron. You could always find him at their college and high school football, high school basketball, and summer baseball games.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Faye and Edward Miller, his brother Jim Miller, his son Stan Miller, and his wife Corky Miller. Joe is survived by son Ron, daughter-in-law Margaret Miller of Edmond, OK, sister Peggy Lane of Houston, TX, sister-in-law Francis Behm, brother-in-law Larry (Sue) Stewart, family friend, Debbie Miller of Belton, MO, granddaughters Erica Miller, Stacia (Jeff) Shipman, Angela (Jason) O'Daniel, Tessa Miller, great-grandchildren Tucker, Tess, Tatum O'Daniel, Maren Miller, Max, Maisie, and Mollie Shipman.
A Visitation is scheduled for 5:00pm and service at 6:00pm on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO.
