John Power, 91, of Gladstone, MO, passed away September 10, 2017. John was born in Dungarvan, County Waterford, Ireland, to Alice and Michael Power. The oldest of six children he was the first to immigrate to America. John moved to Chicago in 1953 where he met his wife of 52 years, Margaret. John and Margaret moved to Kansas City in 1960 where they raised three wonderful children.
In Kansas City, John led operations at M. Lyon & Co., a leather production plant. He retired after 33 years. After six months of retirement—and much time spent bothering his loving wife—John opted to start a second career at Kmart where he putzed around for 16 years before retiring fully. John was happiest surrounded by his friends and family.
John was preceded in death by his wife Margaret, sister Nellie, brothers Mike and Dick. Survivors include his sister Molly and brother Jim; children Mike (Donna), Pat (Emily), and Maureen (Paul) Halbur; and grandchildren Sean, Lauren, Drew, Eric Power, and Daniel, Megan, and Michael Halbur.
