John J. Lehr, 90, passed away on August 10, 2015 at his home in Leawood, KS. John (“Jack”) was born to Cyril and Catherine Lehr in Kansas City, MO. After graduating from Southwest High School, he attended Rockhurst College before enlisting in the Air Force where he served as a pilot instructor. His passion for flying continued throughout his life; he was a Major in the U.S.A.F. Reserves and a Colonel in the Civil Air Patrol, retiring from both organizations after decades of service. He retired from Industrial Bearing & Transmission Company as VP of Marketing & Sales in 1986.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, and his sister, Rosemary Baldwin. He is survived by his two daughters, Stephanie Casey (husband, Mike) and Karen Van Garsse (husband, Jim); his loving companion, Marian Stevens; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 14 at 11:00 at Cure of Ars Church, 9401 Mission Rd, Leawood, KS 66206. Visitation will be at 10:00 at the church, prior to the service; burial in Calvary Cemetery.
