John “Jake” Wayne Berndt, 61, of Belton, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 18, 2010 at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, Missouri. Jake was born July 29, 1948 in Concordia, Kansas, the son of Alan and Shirley Berndt. Jake was a longtime resident of McPherson, Kansas. He was a retired truck driver from Schwan’s Sales, Ent. Jake was preceded in death by his father Alan Berndt. He is survived by mother Shirley Berndt, wife Patricia Berndt, daughter Hilary Berndt and husband Kurt MacTaggart, son Spencer Berndt and wife Jennifer, son William Berndt, grandchildren Avery and Hayden MacTaggart, brother Alan Berndt, sister Rebecca Clothier, sister Elizabeth Murrah, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by memorial services at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
