Jean was born on November 9th in Almonte Springs, CA to Gordon and Grace McKenney. She spent her earlier years living in Chicago, IL.
She moved to Kansas City, MO in 1959 and attended and finished her senior year at Bishop Hogan High School. She attended church for many years at St. Therese Little Flower.
Jean met Andy in 1969 after he returned from Vietnam. They were married at St. Therese’s the summer of 1970. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage. In 1977 Jean and Andy moved to the Waldo area and were parishioners St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
Jean worked for United Missouri Bank for 40+ years in the Collateral department. She enjoyed cooking, growing plants, music and watercolor painting. She was fortunate to have traveled and visited several countries across the world.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents Gordon and Grace McKenney. She is survived by her husband Andy, daughter Stephenie, 4 grandchildren, Alexander, Edward, Isabella and Senora and her brother Tom McKenney.
A visitation for Jean will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, September 14 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road in Kansas City, MO. The funeral will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, September 15 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2 East 75th Street, Kansas City, MO 64114. Graveside services will follow Mass and be held at Mount Moriah Cemetery on Holmes Road in Kansas City, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s name to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
Jean was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a beautiful and special person that was instantly liked and soon loved by everyone she met; Jean will be greatly missed.
