Janet Lee Nettle (Butler), 66, passed away on July 22, 2023 at North Kansas City Hospital surrounded by family. Janet was born on January 7, 1957 in Kansas City, Missouri to Donald and Dorothy Butler. She graduated from Winnetonka High School in 1975 and attended UMKC. Janet married the love of her life, Aaron Nettle, in 1984. The couple welcomed two children, Cassie and Chelsea. Janet showed so much love and pride in her family. Her laugh could spark joy in anyone who encountered her. Her family will remember her as a wise, quick-witted, kind, and loving wife and mother. Janet was accomplished in banking and accounting. For many years, Janet stayed home with her children and volunteered as a room mother. She was also active in the bowling community as a coach and director. Recently, Janet retired from the accounting department at Knapheide Truck Equipment. She was passionate about gardening, feeding her hummingbirds, cooking, and baking. She loved cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals. She always had a love of animals and loved being surrounded by all of her dogs throughout the years, especially Winston and her grand-pup, Archie. She had a personality that could light up a room and will be missed by many.
Janet is preceded in death by her father, Donald Butler, and her mother, Dorothy Butler.
Janet is survived by her husband, Aaron Nettle, her daughters, Cassie Nettle and Chelsea Nettle, her sisters, Patricia James and Donna (Carmen) Williams, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses that helped with her medical care in the last few months.
Heaven gained a beautiful angel. Our wife, our mother, our sister, our hero will be deeply missed.
A visitation for Janet will be held Sunday, August 6, 2023 starting at 1pm followed by a celebration of life service starting at 2pm at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO 64119.
