Janet (Holton) Ceule, born Nov. 3, 1944, passed away April 9, 2021, at age 76. She is survived by daughters Barbara (Michael) Reynolds and Kathy (Paul) Diamond, grandchildren Michaela and Justin Reynolds, Mary, Evelyn, and John Diamond, brothers Charles Holton, George Holton (Carolyn), sister-in-law Pat Wolf and brother-in-law Dale Wolf, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred who passed away in June, 2020 after 54 years of marriage, brother Paul Stahl, and parents George Holton and Roberta Stahl. She rejoined Fred on his first birthday in heaven. We are sure they enjoyed some delicious strawberry rhubarb pie together!
She was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, MO attending Southeast High School (class of 1962), St. Teresa’s College/Avila College, and was a Rockhurst University cheerleader. She worked at the IRS, and Jewish Family and Children’s Services.
Fred and Janet married in 1966 and together they enjoyed traveling the world, water skiing, camping, and spending time with their family. Janet served as a Girl Scout leader for several years, was in charge of the Glen Arbor Homes’ Association islands, was an avid gardener and a consistent fan at her grandchildren’s sporting events even though she chatted more than she watched. Janet’s grandchildren fondly remember her love of sugar cookies, iced tea, pizza, rocking on the back-deck swing, pancakes, visits to Deanna Rose, and McClain’s rolls. She was a fierce competitor in Scrabble and could French braid her granddaughters’ hair like a pro.
In lieu of flowers, please plant a flower or tree in Janet’s honor, or visit Deanna Rose.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, April 14th at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 11800 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO 64131. Masks are required, and all Covid protocols will be followed.
