James Lynn Mercer, 63, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023. James was born in Kansas City, Kansas. He graduated from Central High School in 1978. Soon after graduation, he joined the Marine Corps. Following his time in the Marines, James began his career in retail sales and later became a father.
He was a Sci-Fi enthusiast and a big fan of the Star Trek series. He loved superhero movies, but was most fond of the X-Men series. James enjoyed grilling and cookouts and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs.
He is survived by his children: three sons, Elyceo, Maseo and Hawke; and a daughter, Brooklyn; his mother, Rose Reliford, and several brothers.
Visitation will be held 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24 at Drexel Hall, 3301 Baltimore Ave, Kansas City MO 64111. Interment in Forest Hill & Calvary Cemetery.
