A celebration of life service will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Monday, October 28th at Mt. Moriah Newcomer & Freeman Memorial Home, 10507 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO. The funeral will be held the following day on Tuesday, October 29th at 11:00 A.M at the same location, Mt. Moriah Newcomer & Freeman Memorial Home, 10507 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO.
After graduating high school Jim joined the Navy. Jim served in the Vietnam War and received the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars. He also received the National Defense Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary award for his service in Korea. Jim defended our country with pride and always supported our military and the VA. He was a proud member of the VFW and volunteered with the Wounded Warriors foundation and spent many hours helping other military members.
In 1970, Jim began his lifetime career in the automotive industry working for General Motors. He was a proud member of the Local UAW 31. Jim retired from GM in July of 2002. Jim lived and raised his family in the small town of Pleasant Hill, Missouri. He loved being involved with his family, children and Church. He spent many hours helping his children practice their favorite sports and coaching their little league teams. He was an avid hunter, fisher and outdoorsman. He especially loved teaching his kids and grandkids how to hunt and fish. He was responsible for taking many of them on their first hunting and fishing trips.
Jim found true love later in life when he met Jeanne. After dating for a few years, they were married on October 5th, 1996. Both coming from previous marriage, they created a loving mixed family. Jim and Jeanne loved having large family events, going dancing and attending concerts.
Jim was a loving father, husband, papa, and friend to everyone. Jim was preceded in death by, his wife, Jeanne Malicoat; his parents, Owen and Katherine Malicoat; and brother, Owen Malicoat. Jim had a large and loving mixed family with his wife Jeanne. He is survived in death by his children, daughter, Terry Ebeck Kempf; and sons, James, Brian and Richard. He is also survived by Jeanne’s children, Matt, Marianne and Julie. Jim had 12 grandchildren; Sydney, Molly, Brandon, Ashley, Jeff, Rachael, Victoria, Ellie, Madelyn, Luke, Kyle and Samantha.
Jim enjoyed life, family and friends. He would help anyone in need and always had a smile on his face. He will forever be missed and loved by his family and friends. As he reunites with Jeanne in Heaven, we can all sleep peacefully knowing he is no longer suffering. We also can take solace in knowing we have another guardian angel watching over us. Rest in peace dad, we LOVE YOU!
